Update network section in vApp: The provided XML has too many elements: 2,050. The maximum is 2,048.

I have seen this asked a few times on here already, but have seen no answers. 

Surely, there is a way in vcloud director to increase the 'number of elements' allowed in a rest call. I cannot find any information in any documentation anywhere. 

The situation is that we have vapps with many firewall rules and upon attempt to add more, the above exception is thrown. 

Preferably there is a way to increase this limit of 2048 in vcloud director. Or if someone has a work around for retrieving/updating the vapp without including the entire metadata for the vapp in one call.
